Privacy and cookies policy

Who we are

We are staff and doctoral researchers at Loughborough University, working on this research focused website. Our website address is: https://www.aura-network.net.

Cookies

If you visit our login page, we will set a temporary cookie to determine if your browser accepts cookies. This cookie contains no personal data and is discarded when you close your browser.

When you log in, we will also set up several cookies to save your login information and your screen display choices. Login cookies last for two days, and screen options cookies last for a year. If you select “Remember Me”, your login will persist for two weeks. If you log out of your account, the login cookies will be removed.

If you edit or publish an article, an additional cookie will be saved in your browser. This cookie includes no personal data and simply indicates the post ID of the article you just edited. It expires after 1 day.

We may also use third-party cookies (set by online services other than the one you are visiting), as part of a plugin, to provide functionality for things like Google Analytics, YouTube or X. Disabling these cookies will most likely break the functions offered by these third parties.

Google Analytics

We use Google Analytics to carry out statistical analysis of page use, page interactions and paths through the Website to evaluate and develop our website. This is known as ‘digital analytics’. This information allows us to understand individual behaviours and needs more accurately. For more information on how Google uses the data collected via this service, see here: http://www.google.com/policies/privacy/partners

To opt out of being tracked via Google Analytics, you can also use Google’s opt-out browser add-on: https://tools.google.com/dlpage/gaoptout

YouTube

We may periodically use the YouTube service to host video content, and embed YouTube’s player in our web pages to allow you to watch the video without leaving our website.  We have no direct control over YouTube’s use of the data stored in this object. For more information, please read YouTube’s privacy policy at http://www.google.co.uk/intl/en-GB/policies

We use the YouTube service as a convenience for our visitors, and we use it on the basis that Google adheres to its privacy policy – see http://www.google.co.uk/intl/en-GB/policies/ for more information.

X (formerly Twitter)

We may embed feeds from X (formerly Twitter) on this site. X may use cookies to better understand how you interact with their services, to monitor aggregate usage by X users and web traffic routing to their services. You can remove or block cookies using the settings in your browser, but in some cases, this may impact your ability to use X. For more information, visit X’s Privacy Policy – https://twitter.com/en/privacy

Embedded content from other websites

Articles on this site may include embedded content (e.g. videos, images, articles, etc.). Embedded content from other websites behaves in the exact same way as if the visitor has visited the other website.

These websites may collect data about you, use cookies, embed additional third-party tracking, and monitor your interaction with that embedded content, including tracking your interaction with the embedded content if you have an account and are logged in to that website.

Who we share your data with

If you have an account on this site and you request a password reset, your IP address will be included in the reset email.

How long we retain your data

For users that register on our website (if any), we also store the personal information they provide in their user profile. All users can see, edit, or delete their personal information at any time (except they cannot change their username). Website administrators can also see and edit that information.

What rights you have over your data

If you have an account on this site, you can request to receive an exported file of the personal data we hold about you, including any data you have provided to us. You can also request that we erase any personal data we hold about you. This does not include any data we are obliged to keep for administrative, legal, or security purposes.

Please contact dp@lboro.ac.uk if you would like to request these services.
